Picasso's Pizza Review – West Seneca, NY
score
Picasso's on Union Road in West Seneca has a big reputation. Joe's fans voted it the winner of his Buffalo's best pizza bracket, where 64 pizzerias went head to head. Joe came with Dining with Dudek to see why.
The order
Joe ordered a large cheese pepperoni for $29.85. It's a big, heavy box. The pizza is cut differently, so you get more slices, and it's loaded with cup and char pepperoni.
First bite
Nice browning underneath. The first thing Joe tasted was the extra parmesan they put on top.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Buffalo style, a little soft underneath but still good.
- Sauce: One of the things that makes this pizza. A little sweet but not crazy, maybe with a little spice.
- Cheese: Joe still can't figure out how Buffalo gets its cheese so much better, but the coverage here is solid.
- Pepperoni: Not shy. The cup and char is crispy and tasty. Some people will say it's burnt. Joe says it's delicious.
The verdict
This is a classic, solid Buffalo pizza, and Joe saw why so many people love it. He was teetering between a 9.0 and a 9.1, and one more bite settled it at 9.1. A great pizza.
