Papa's Pizza Oven is inside Legacy Sports Bar on Union Road in West Seneca. A viewer recommended it on review.pizza. Papa's only has a few locations in Buffalo, but they're growing.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $30.44. They asked if he wanted sweet sauce or regular, so he went with a scoop of each. The pie has some weight to it, and the pepperoni looks hand cut. They recognized Joe when he got there, though he'd called ahead.
First bite
It's a mouthful of sauce and cheese, and he can taste a little sweetness from the mix. Joe says when he thinks of Buffalo pizza, this is what he dreams about at night.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thinner than Joe usually pictures for Buffalo, but he likes it. Light to medium browning underneath.
- Sauce: A little sweet with the mix. Joe thinks he still likes the non-sweet better.
- Cheese: Sauce and cheese go right to the edge.
- Pepperoni: Cup and char that is actually charred.
The Stinger
Joe went back for a large 16-inch Stinger, a heavy specialty pie with chicken fingers, steak, wing sauce and what tastes like a blue cheese base. It feels like it could feed an army. Joe could taste the blue cheese and the meats, and he can see how somebody would absolutely love it. For him it was just too much, especially right after their top notch cheese pepperoni.
The verdict
Joe is a big fan. That cup and char pushed it over the line, and he gave it a 9.0 bang on.
