La Nova Pizzeria has a location on Main Street in Amherst. A viewer recommended it on review.pizza. Joe had done La Nova at another location and liked this one better, since it was cooked a little more.
The order
Joe ordered a large 17-inch cheese pepperoni for $33.38. It had some weight to it, with cup and char pepperoni that looked hand cut and a thick outer edge. The cut needed a little help.
First bite
Medium browning underneath, and the cheese was about to slide right off. A cheesy amount of craziness with lots of sauce.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: A thin crust under a thick amount of cheese. Soft, and Joe was down with it.
- Sauce: Sloppy and a little rich for Joe. Not his favorite, but it still works.
- Cheese: The shining star. They're not scared of their cheese at La Nova.
- Pepperoni: Felt hand cut, with good flavor.
What would make it better
A different sauce could get it an extra point.
The verdict
It's a $33 price tag, but it comes with a lot of cheese. The sauce kept it just shy of the eights, and Joe gave it a 7.9.
