Great Lakes Pizza on Indian Church Road has been in business for 14 years. Owner Carl recognized Joe and chatted with him while the pizza was getting ready.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $23.64. It came with big slices and cup and char. Joe filmed while taking cover from the elements.
First bite
It looked good underneath. The first thing Joe noticed was the sauce, mellow but flavorful.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: A nice thickness. Carl told Joe about the 48 hours that go into it, and Joe liked it.
- Sauce: It did it for Joe. Flavorful without being too potent.
- Cheese: Fantastic with the sauce.
- Pepperoni: Cup and char. Joe pointed out that the dark spots aren't burnt, they're charred.
What would make it better
Joe would love to try it with his favorite spicy cup and char, and he'd like to see the toppings go to the edge.
The verdict
Joe called this one fantastic, even without his favorite pepperoni. He gave Great Lakes an 8.7 and said he'd come back if Carl puts the spicy cups on.
