Grandma D's Pizzeria Review – Youngstown, NY
score
Grandma D's Pizzeria is on Creek Road in Youngstown, a little bit on the outskirts. A viewer recommended it on review.pizza, so Joe made the drive.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $18.50. It came with big slices and a little sprinkle of herbs on top. A couple more pepperoni wouldn't have hurt, but the distribution was otherwise pretty decent.
First bite
This one is a sloppy jalopy. Joe dropped about half the cheese on the first bite, and he didn't mind one bit, because the cheese is delicious.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thin, lightly browned underneath, with a little crunch on the back side and a bit of flour on the bottom that wasn't hurting anything.
- Sauce: Nice and mellow, with plenty of it.
- Cheese: Delish. It's a greasy wheel, and Joe likes it that way.
- Balance: The sauce to cheese ratio is nice. Saucy and cheesy, just the way Joe likes it.
The verdict
If you don't like a greasy wheel, this may not be your spot. If you're like Joe, it's a solid pizza, and at $18.50 it's value town. He gave it an 8.8 and said it's absolutely delicious and worth the drive out to Youngstown.
