Ferro's Famous NY Pizza is on Seneca Street in West Seneca, and it's apparently Josh Allen's favorite pizza. Joe came because a viewer recommended it on review.pizza, not just for the Bills connection.
The order
Joe ordered a large 18-inch cheese pepperoni for $28.80, with lay flat pepperoni. He cracked a Bud Light to go with it, out of the right hand.
First bite
This is a big pizza with huge slices. Underneath, it's right between light and medium browning, with some cornmeal. Joe liked it more than he expected after seeing pictures online.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thin for sure. Joe says not a lot of places do New York style in Buffalo.
- Sauce: Joe liked it.
- Cheese: Phenomenal.
- Pepperoni: Nice and greasy, with good flavor and good seasoning. Distribution was on point.
What would make it better
Joe would like to try it with cup and char.
The Sicilian
Joe went back for an 18-inch Sicilian cheese pepperoni, the same $28.80 price. It's heavy, with medium to dark browning, and Joe thinks it might be the thickest pizza he's tried. The sauce has good tomato flavor and a hint of herbs, the pepperoni is the same excellent one, and the cheese is fantastic. But the crust was way too thick for him, and he'd want more sauce, cheese and pepperoni to balance it. If he just needed to fill up he might pick this one, but for flavor he likes the New York style better.
The eggplant parm pizza
On a third visit Joe tried something he had never seen on a menu, an 18-inch eggplant parm pizza. It has sauce dolloped on top, parsley, eggplant and cheese, with medium browning and cornmeal underneath. The cutter could use sharpening. Joe called it a good representation of eggplant parm with great cheese, though he doesn't think he'd order it again. If he was with someone who loves eggplant parm, he'd happily share a slice. He'd maybe add hot chili flakes.
The verdict
Is it Joe's favorite pizza in Buffalo like it is for Josh? No. But it's a solid New York style pie with phenomenal cheese, and he gave it an 8.9.
