Delta Sonic Brick Oven Kitchen Review – West Seneca, NY
score
Brick Oven Kitchen is inside the Delta Sonic gas station on Langner Road in West Seneca. Joe wanted to see how Buffalo gas station pizza compares.
The order
Joe got a 14-inch cheese pepperoni for $16.30. It was the only size they had. He wasn't expecting cup and char pepperoni, but it showed up, with a dusting of seasoning on top, cut into six slices.
First bite
Underneath it has a medium browning in stripes with some lighter spots. There's lots of cheese, and the pepperoni is nicely charred. Joe says you won't get that at a Canadian gas station.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Cheese: The highlight of the pizza.
- Pepperoni: Cup and char that is actually charred.
- Sauce: Could use some work. It's a little potent and reminded Joe of a Ragu type sauce.
- Crust: Joe got a little sweetness from either the crust or the sauce.
What would make it better
Change the sauce and they're on to something.
The chicken finger pizza
Joe came back for a 14-inch chicken finger pizza with hot peppers added for two dollars, $18.48 in all. The worker suggested a barbecue sauce drizzle on top, and Joe said that guy deserved a tip for it. The tangy pickled hot peppers go really well with it, the cut was fantastic and the cheese pull was huge. The chicken fingers probably come from a food supplier, but they're still good. Joe liked this one much better than the cheese pepperoni. His only complaint is that the staff aren't allowed to take tips.
The verdict
Would Joe come here just for the pizza? No. But if he's filling up on gas and hungry, it's better than he thought. The cheese pepperoni gets a 6.3, and the chicken finger pizza is the one to get at 7.8.
Ranking note: Best Pizza Buffalo ranks every pizzeria by Joe’s score for a standard pizza, so Delta Sonic Brick Oven Kitchen is listed at 6.3.
