Union Pub Review – Buffalo, NY
score
Union Pub is on Swan Street in Buffalo. Joe first found it before a Sabres game, and says the atmosphere was awesome and the wings were great.
The order
Joe ordered a cheese pepperoni to go for $10.32. The guy seemed surprised, since it's not common for people to order pizza to go. It's a mini personal pizza with lay flat pepperoni and maybe a little parsley on top.
First bite
Not too shabby. It has a sweet sauce, and the pepperoni crisped up nicely.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: A thin, pita style crust. Joe isn't sure if they make the dough in house, but it does the trick.
- Sauce: Sweet.
- Pepperoni: Crisped up nicely.
What would make it better
For what it is, Joe wouldn't change it.
The chicken finger pizza
When Joe asked what else to get, the guy recommended a medium sauce chicken finger pizza, also $10.32. Joe gave that an A+ recommendation. It has little chopped cubes of chicken fingers and blue cheese instead of red sauce. The blue cheese is tangy, the chicken has nice flavor and the wing sauce shines through. Joe liked it better than the cheese pepperoni. Maybe bigger chunks of chicken would help.
The verdict
It's nothing fancy, but before a game, Joe had no problem eating it. A one beer pizza for ten bones. He gave it a 5.9, and the chicken finger pizza is the one to get at 7.3.
Ranking note: Best Pizza Buffalo ranks every pizzeria by Joe’s score for a standard pizza, so Union Pub is listed at 5.9.
