Town Line Pizza Review – Alden, NY
score
Town Line Pizza is in Alden, just outside Buffalo. Joe visited on a snowy day.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $21.74. It's cheesy with cup and char, though a couple were missing, and a little crust along the outside.
First bite
It's a thick one, but Joe liked the ratio of sauce to cheese right away. There's a little sweetness coming off the sauce, and some herbs.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thick. Light brown to medium browning underneath, starting to get toward the dark side.
- Sauce: A little sweet but not over sweet, and more of a chunky sauce than a puree. It fights its way through.
- Cheese: Fantastic.
- Pepperoni: Good cup and char.
What would make it better
More cook. If it's going to go that thick, Joe wants it cooked more.
The chicken pickle pizza
Joe also tried a large 16-inch chicken pickle pizza for $23.91. It has a garlic butter base, mozzarella, dill pickles, chicken fingers and a honey mustard barbecue drizzle. Joe loved the mustard, and the deep fried chicken fingers were better than at some other places he's tried. The pickles bring some zip from the vinegar. But it's thick and needed a lot more cook, and that held it back big time. Cooked properly, Joe thinks it could get into the eights.
The verdict
It's a good solid zaza with good flavors, and Joe likes the sauce. He gave it a 7.8. More cook would get it into the eights.
Ranking note: Best Pizza Buffalo ranks every pizzeria by Joe’s score for a standard pizza, so Town Line Pizza is listed at 7.8.
