The Byrd House Review – Orchard Park, NY
score
The Byrd House is on North Buffalo Road in Orchard Park, just outside of Buffalo. Joe could tell right away this one was a little different.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $24.60. He noticed some orange on the cheese and what looked like cup and char pepperoni. The cut needed some help.
First bite
It felt like a thick, bready crust. Underneath was medium browning with some dark leoparding, which is different from the usual Buffalo style. Joe was trying to decide how much he liked it.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: A little dense, with some gumminess. Joe wondered if the dough was still cold when it went in the oven and invited pizza experts to weigh in. The crust didn't do it for him.
- Bottom: The best surprise. A dusting underneath that Joe was sure was garlic powder, garlic salt or both. He liked that flavor.
- Sauce: Good.
- Cheese: Good.
- Pepperoni: Joe has had better.
What would make it better
A different pepperoni and a little work on the crust.
The verdict
The cheese and sauce are good, but the pepperoni and crust weren't Joe's favorite. He gave it a 6.4 and said it has some good things in the making.
