The order
Joe ordered a large cheese pepperoni for $26.92. It's 18 inches, large and heavy, and they're not scared of the pepperoni at all.
First bite
It's a thick one. A little light on the cook, but the flavors are nice and the dough tastes fresh and soft.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thick and soft, not too crunchy on the back.
- Sauce: A little on the sweet side, but not too sweet. Joe could taste oregano. Good distribution.
- Cheese: Fantastic, and it looked like they might sprinkle some Parmesan on.
- Pepperoni: Plenty of it.
What would make it better
A little more cook.
Back with a guest for the garlic chicken pizza
Joe returned to T.C. Wheelers with his guest Jimmy Scott Jr. for a specialty pie: a large 18-inch garlic chicken, broccoli and three cheese pizza on a sesame crust. It's a thick pizza with a lot of cheese and broccoli, and Joe said a couple of slices is a meal. He was for the sesame crust and liked the seeds a lot. Joe is a tomato sauce guy, but the garlic sauce went well with the chicken and broccoli. Jimmy added some extra hot sauce for a kick and gave it an 8.9. Joe would like a little more sauce and some spice, and went with an 8.4, a solid pizza that could feed a few people.
The verdict
You get a lot for your money at T.C. Wheelers. Joe gave the cheese pepperoni an 8.1, and the garlic chicken specialty pizza an 8.4.
