Sunny's Family Restaurant is on Transit Road in Lockport, in the Buffalo area. A viewer recommended it on review.pizza, and Joe was happy to be back around Buffalo.
The order
Joe ordered online. He got a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $24.39. It looked like it had a nice cook, with the sauce darkened a bit on top. A couple more pepperoni would have been good. The first cut was good, the second needed a little help.
First bite
Light, light browning underneath. Still, Joe said the pizza is legit.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Medium thickness. The bottom was undercooked, but the outer crust had a nice crunch. Joe felt the oven settings might be a little off between the top, bottom, back and middle.
- Sauce: Mellow, just a touch of sweet. It could use more to balance out the ratios.
- Pepperoni: Cup and char with some charring, which Joe liked, though it was interesting to see them that charred over such a light bottom.
What would make it better
A better cook would get it into the eights.
The verdict
It's a good overall pizza and still tastes great. Cooked all the way through like that outside crust, it would score higher. Joe gave it a 7.8.
