Subway on North Buffalo Street in Orchard Park sells a pizza sub, so Joe had to try it. He hadn't had a Subway sub in what felt like years.
The order
Joe got a 12-inch pizza sub for $9.78 on toasted white bread. They had no mozzarella, so it came with provolone.
First bite
Herbs right out of the gate. Joe joked it tasted a little like heartburn, but the cheese surprised him.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Bread: Decent. It's toasted but not very crunchy.
- Sauce: A little light, with a flavor Joe couldn't place. Not terrible.
- Cheese: The provolone is not bad. Nicely salty and actually pretty good.
- Pepperoni: More like a lunch meat.
The verdict
It doesn't compare to a pizza in Buffalo, but for a sub it's not too shabby, and it's better than Joe expected. He thought it was going to get a 2 and gave it a 5.5. For 10 bucks you could share it or one person could take it down. The value is there.
