Sub Delicious is on Rochester Road in Lockport. A viewer recommended it on review.pizza. The guy inside was super friendly and didn't want to take a tip, so Joe planned to go back in with some cash from the car.
The order
Joe ordered a large, and he means large, 18-inch cheese pepperoni for $29.11. It had cup and char pepperoni and an interesting looking outer crust. It could have used a couple more pepperoni along the outside.
First bite
Light browning with a little dark browning underneath. Nice and thin, greasy enough to drip, and the ratios were money. Joe said that's what he's talking about.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thin, getting just slightly thicker at the back. The inside is good, but the outer crust was not Joe's favorite.
- Sauce: A touch sweet, but not as sweet as some other places. Good seasoning.
- Cheese: Cheese made in America, not American cheese. Joe guessed it's probably Galbani.
What would make it better
Some tweaks to the outer crust.
The verdict
It's good pizza, though not exactly traditional Buffalo style. The ingredients are good, but the crust pulled it down to a 7.7 for Joe. He wasn't sure the people of Lockport would agree.
