Romeo & Juliet's Bakery and Cafe Review – Tonawanda, NY
score
Romeo and Juliet's Bakery and Cafe is on Sheridan Drive in Tonawanda. Joe expected a thick bakery pie. That's not what he got.
The order
Joe ordered a large cheese pepperoni for $19.58. He thought it might be a 14-inch. The box wasn't heavy, which should have tipped him off.
First bite
Thin, thin crust. Saucy, cheesy and salty, with nice light browning underneath. Joe compared the thinness to a wood oven pizza, though it seemed to be done in a deck oven.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Better than Joe thought it would be, with a little crunch. The bottom looked cooked well.
- Sauce: A tomatoey flavor.
- Cheese: Good.
- Pepperoni: Needed more cook.
What would make it better
A little more time in the oven. Since it's so thin, Joe doesn't think it needs much more.
The verdict
The top looked a little undercooked, and that's what held it back. Joe gave it a 7.1, but the crust is really good, and he'd love to try it again with more cook.
