Rix Country Store Review – Orchard Park, NY

Rix Country Store is on North Buffalo Road in Orchard Park, just outside of Buffalo. It's a different kind of stop than Joe's usual pizzerias.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch pizza for $21.73. It came with smaller cup and char pepperoni and a thick crust. The cut needed a little help but it was okay.
First bite
It's thicker than Joe is used to, but it's pillowy and the crust has great flavor. He thought it might be too thick, and it turned out better than he expected. He compared the crust to a Pizza Hut style crust.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thick but fluffy, with a light browning underneath that looked like it might have been done on a screen. Joe noticed a cheesecake-like crumb.
- Sauce: Not a lot of punch. Joe said it just rides along in the back seat, and it does just fine.
- Pepperoni: Nice and crisp with good cups, and a little bit of spice.
What would make it better
Joe wasn't sure. A little more cook might take away from the fluffiness that makes this one work.
The verdict
For this style of pizza, Joe liked it and gave it an 8.5. It messes with what he's used to in a good way. Not too shabby for 22 bucks.
