Riva's Pizzeria Review – Depew, NY
score
Riva's Pizzeria is on Walden Avenue in Depew, just outside of Buffalo. A viewer recommended it through review.pizza.
The order
Joe ordered a large cheese pepperoni for $21 flat, done in a conveyor oven. It had a little browning on top and a slightly thicker outside crust. The cup and char could have used a couple extra, but Joe was fine with it.
First bite
Light browning, almost medium. Joe got a nice bite of the cup and char pepperoni, cooked nearly to perfection. That first bite was better than the outside.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: A nice thin pizza, but the outside is a touch on the dry side.
- Sauce: Mellow and tomatoey. Joe could have used a touch more of it.
- Cheese: A little different from other places around here. It didn't have the same cheese pull, and it had a creaminess that Joe said is more of a Canadian style cheese.
- Pepperoni: Nice depth of flavor.
What would make it better
A little more sauce, and the sauce and cheese closer to the edge to make the outside more flavorful.
The verdict
The flavors are good, but the back side was a little dry. Joe gave Riva's a 7.6.
