Poplar Pizza is on William Street in Cheektowaga. Joe came back to try one of their specialty pizzas.
The order
Joe ordered a large sweet and spicy pizza for $27.18. It has pineapple, jalapeno, chicken, tomato sauce and cheese. Joe says pineapple belongs on pizza, and this looked like a dream come true to him.
First bite
It was hot, and Joe lost some toppings on the first bite. Then he got one with everything, and said Poplar is on to something.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Toppings: One of Joe's favorite combinations so far. The pineapple, jalapeno and chicken complement each other really well.
- Chicken: Tastes like someone made fajitas with fajita mix and put it on the pizza. Joe really likes that.
- Spice: Good spice, with some crunch.
What would make it better
Maybe thinner pineapple chunks, though Joe admits that might be nitpicking since they're nice and juicy. He'd just play with the ratios a bit to get it into the nines.
The verdict
Joe absolutely loves it. If he's back in the area, he wants this one again. He gave it an 8.9.
