Pizzeria Florian Review – East Aurora, NY
score
Pizzeria Florian is on East Main Street in East Aurora, just outside of Buffalo. Joe had been looking forward to it opening for months, and once it finally did, he came straight in.
The order
Joe ordered the cheese pepperoni for $27.19. It's done in an electric oven, and it came out with a nice cook, cup and char pepperoni and a sprinkling of magic on top. The cut needed a little help.
First bite
Nice dark leoparding underneath and grease coming off the slice. Joe said if he hadn't seen the oven, he would have thought it was a wood oven pizza.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Nice and thin with a great crisp. Some people might think it's burnt, but to Joe that's flavor. He called the crust fantastic and well seasoned.
- Sauce: You can taste the tomato. Joe guessed no sugar, but it still has some sweetness, maybe from California or Italian tomatoes.
- Cheese: Fantastic.
- Pepperoni: Not overpowering the rest of the pie.
- Ratios: On point. Joe said this is how you make a pizza.
What would make it better
Joe's only fix is to move it closer to him.
The verdict
Joe was so into this pie that when a noise outside made him wonder about his car, he joked they could keep it, because he was staying with this pizza. He called it his favorite pizza so far in the States and gave it a 9.4.
