Pizza Oven Review – Niagara Falls, NY
score
Pizza Oven is a cash-only spot on Niagara Street in Niagara Falls, New York. They don't do a large cheese pepperoni here, so Joe went with a half tray. A viewer recommended it on review.pizza.
The order
Joe ordered a half tray cheese pepperoni for $21, cash only. The pepperoni was on top, but also tucked underneath the cheese.
First bite
It's cooked thin and saucy, and the sauce is definitely sweet. Joe's first bite missed the pepperoni because it was hidden under the cheese.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thin. The back tasted like a bakery pizza.
- Sauce: Good tomato flavor, but there's definite sugar in it. Joe said it was flirting with too sweet.
- Cheese: Salty and good.
- Pepperoni: Hard to tell how much is there with some of it under the cheese.
What would make it better
Less sugar, and cup and char pepperoni on top, and more of it.
The verdict
There's good flavor here, but it takes a back seat to the sweet sauce. If you like a sweet sauce, you'd love this. For Joe it was pushing it, and he gave Pizza Oven a 6.7.
