Pizza Amore the Woodfire Way is on Grand Island, and Joe says the pie looks a lot like the one he had at their North Tonawanda location.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $25.56. They asked if he wanted sweet sauce or regular, and he got the sweeter one.
First bite
A big slice, cheesy and saucy, with spicy cup and char. Joe said it again: wood-fired pizza meets Buffalo.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thin, with a little char flavor but not too crispy.
- Sauce: Delish. A little sweet, but not crazy.
- Cheese: Fantastic.
- Pepperoni: Fantastic. Joe thinks it's spicy cup and char.
What would make it better
Crisp it up. And get rid of the bees, since one kept invading the review.
The Jane pizza
Joe also tried the Jane pizza at $27.73, with a balsamic drizzle, fresh and shredded mozzarella, ricotta, basil and sweet red peppers, which he first thought were tomatoes. It's soft, super creamy and a little sweet, more of an artisan style. Joe liked it as a change up, but he liked the pepperoni better. Spicy peppers would contrast the sweet and creamy and kick it into the eights. He thinks it would go nicely with a glass of wine.
The verdict
It's a very good zaza, and Joe gave it an 8.6.
