Picasso's Pizza is on Broadway in Lancaster, just outside of Buffalo. Joe had reviewed another Picasso's location before and wanted to try this one.
The order
Joe ordered a large cheese pepperoni, done tray style, for $32.30. It was heavy enough to be a workout to hold.
First bite
Joe liked the dark cook right away. It's lighter browning in the middle and darker on the outside, with crispy frico on the edge.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Fantastic. It reminded Joe a little of a Pizza Hut crust, but better.
- Sauce: A little light on Joe's first slice, so he took a bite from a middle piece before scoring. That saucy bite sealed it.
- Cheese: Fantastic.
- Pepperoni: Cup and charred for real, and cooked damn near perfect.
- Pizza magic: Picasso's sprinkles a powder on top. Joe guesses Parmesan plus some herbs and spices. He asked viewers who eat here what they call it.
The verdict
Joe can see why so many people love Picasso's. He gave it a 9.0 and said Picasso's is where it's at.
