Pane's Restaurant Review – North Tonawanda, NY
score
Pane's Restaurant is in North Tonawanda.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $24.82. It came with cup and char, good distribution and some grease dripping down, though a couple of pepperoni were missing in one spot.
First bite
It was so hot out of the oven it needed another minute to cool. The first bite was all cheese, no crust.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thin, and a little light on the cook. Since it's thin and saucy, it works. Nice crunch on the back.
- Sauce: Nice and saucy, a little on the sweet side but not crazy sweet. It stands out.
- Cheese: Fantastic.
- Pepperoni: Good pepperoni.
What would make it better
A little more cook might improve it, though Joe is okay with it the way it is.
The hot honey pizza
Joe went back for a 16-inch hot honey pizza at $28.70, with red sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, pepperoni, red pepper, a hot honey drizzle and fresh basil, tavern cut. The hot honey shines through first, and Joe didn't think he'd like the ricotta but that bite was money. He called it their cheese pepperoni with strides of improvement. The crust was still a little undercooked, and the basil was more for looks than taste.
The verdict
It's a solid little zaza for 25 bucks, and Joe gave it an 8.4. The hot honey pizza matched it.
Ranking note: Best Pizza Buffalo ranks every pizzeria by Joe’s score for a standard pizza, so Pane's Restaurant is listed at 8.4.
