Mangia Ristorante & Caffe is on North Buffalo Road in Orchard Park, just outside of Buffalo. Joe said it looks beautiful inside, like a great date night pasta place, and it smelled fantastic.
The order
The 10-inch is the size they have here. Joe got a cheese pepperoni for $11.96 with cup and char pepperoni and a distribution he liked. He admits he was seven minutes late picking it up.
First bite
Underneath, the crust had an orange look that reminded Joe of cheese crackers, goldfish in particular. But the flavors were nice, and it tasted better than he expected.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thin, with good ratios. Joe guessed the crust might not be made in house, though he said he could be wrong.
- Sauce: Really, really nice. Joe liked it a lot.
- Cheese: Nice.
- Pepperoni: Nice flavor and cooked well.
What would make it better
The cut needed a little help. Joe also admitted the look of the crust made him hold the score back a bit.
The verdict
It doesn't look as good as it tastes. It tastes better. Joe demolished this little pizza and gave it an 8.4, a good, solid pie that would go well with a gin and tonic.
