Macy's Place on Genesee Street in Cheektowaga is the sister to the Kenmore location, which was Joe's favorite pizza on this side of the border. He was excited to see how it compared.
The order
Joe ordered a large cheese pepperoni for $25 flat. It was loaded with pepperoni on one side, a little light on the other, and had a nice bubble piece.
First bite
Medium thickness and cooked nicely. Saucy, cheesy and well distributed. The first difference Joe noticed: Kenmore uses spicy cup and char, and this one isn't spicy.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Nice crunch on the back. The crunchy crust is money.
- Sauce: A little on the sweet side, but not overly sweet, and it punches through all the cheese.
- Cheese: Top-notch, like the crust.
- Pepperoni: Not spicy here. Joe prefers the spicy one, but that's up to you.
What would make it better
With the spicy pepperoni and a few more on the light side, Joe says this is definitely a 9 plus.
The verdict
He can see why Macy's blows up on Instagram and Facebook. As it sits, Joe gave it an 8.8, and called it fantastic.
