The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $26.60. It came with cup and char pepperoni and a little blue cheese on the side. The cut needed a little help.
First bite
The first thing that jumped out at Joe was the herbs and the tomato sauce. It's a thick crust, somewhere between medium and thick, and leaning thick.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Cooked excellent, with an even, darker browning underneath and a little crisp on the bottom.
- Sauce: Joe liked the amount of sauce, but the herbs were a little on the potent side for him.
- Cheese: Good.
- Pepperoni: Little baby cup and char. Some didn't get much char, but they still had good flavor.
What would make it better
A little less herbs, and Joe said this one would be solid.
Back for the buffalo chicken pizza
Joe went back for a large 16-inch buffalo chicken pizza done in medium sauce, $28.38. They asked if he wanted celery on it, so he got it on half to try both ways. To Joe, this is what a buffalo chicken pizza should look like. The chicken and celery are cut into small cubes for easy bites, and there's just a touch of spice. He liked it better with the celery, because the crunch reminded him of eating wings and dipping the celery in the wing sauce. His one wish is something he hasn't seen since high school: real chicken wings, fried and deboned, with that meat on the pizza. He knows that's a lot of labor.
The verdict
It's a solid pizza with a great cook, pulled down only by the high herb count. Joe gave the cheese pepperoni an 8.2, and the buffalo chicken pizza edged it out at 8.3.
