Just Pizza & Wing Co. is a Buffalo favorite known for gourmet pizzas and more than 25 wing flavors. Joe started with a classic at the South Park location.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $25.56, with cup and char pepperoni and a tavern cut.
First bite
Saucy, cheesy and sandwichy in the best way. The pizza came out piping hot, so the slices were a little floppy, but Joe can't dock a hot pizza for being hot.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Fantastic, with a nice crunch on the back.
- Sauce: Not too sweet, with a nice mellow flavor.
- Cheese: Unreal. Joe says it's nearly impossible to get cheese like this in Canada.
- Pepperoni: Cup and char. Not Joe's favorite brand, but good.
What would make it better
Maybe a little more cook.
Going back for the three cheese steak pizza
The box called it "world famous," so Joe went back to the Elmwood Avenue location to try the three cheese steak pizza ($30.40 for a 16-inch). It has no tomato sauce, steak under the cheese and banana peppers on top, which Joe was glad they recommended. Ryan, who recognized Joe on the way out, added a drizzle of steak hoagie sauce, and Joe said that kicked it up at least half a point. It's not a style Joe is used to, but the steak is legit and he'd get it again.
The verdict
Just Pizza's cheese pepperoni is a solid Buffalo pie at 8.6, and the three cheese steak pizza is worth a try at 8.4.
