John & Mary's Pizza Review – Alden, NY

John & Mary's Pizza is on Broadway in Alden. This was Joe's third visit, after their pepperoni pizza and fajita pizza, and this time he tried something he'd never seen before.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch Texas hot pizza for $29.31. It has a homemade Texas dog sauce, mustard, onions and cut up hot dogs on top.
First bite
Joe could smell the mustard the second he opened the box. He knew instantly that it works.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Sauce: The Texas sauce mixed with the mustard is hitting so good.
- Toppings: Little bites of hot dog and onion with the mozzarella. Joe loved it.
- Crust: A mix of light browning and some whiter spots underneath.
What would make it better
Joe would like to see the hot dogs get some char somehow, though he's not sure how you'd do that without ruining it.
The fajita pizza
Joe also tried a large 16-inch fajita pizza for $29.31. It has peppers, onions, taco sauce, mozzarella and cheddar, with chicken on one half and steak on the other. It's a thick crust with light browning to hold all the food. The peppers and onions are already cooked fajita style, which Joe liked, and he preferred the steak side. It will easily feed three people. Joe enjoyed it, but if he wanted pizza he'd get pizza, and if he wanted fajitas he'd get fajitas.
The verdict
Joe didn't think he'd like it at all, and he was pleasantly surprised. He says it could ruin his pizza street cred, but he gave the Texas hot pizza an 8.5. Creativity is right up there.
