Giacobbi's Cucina Citta Review – Buffalo, NY
score
Giacobbi's Cucina Citta is on Allen Street in Buffalo. Joe doesn't know if he's ever seen a lucky 13-inch pizza before, but this is one.
The order
Joe ordered a 13-inch cheese pepperoni for $21.38. It came with cup and char pepperoni and what looks like a flour dusting.
First bite
Hot out of the oven, super cheesy, with a thin crust. Joe wasn't sure about the sauce at first.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Reminded Joe of a homestyle crust, like his mom's pizza made with Buffalo ingredients, since she does the flour dusting too.
- Sauce: More dense, like it's been cooked. Almost a pasta sauce with herbs. It grew on Joe, and this time it works.
- Cheese: Super cheesy.
What would make it better
A little more cook would get this pizza into the eights.
The short rib pizza
Joe went back for a 13-inch short rib pizza at $25.89, his first ever. It's a super thin white pizza with no tomato sauce, topped with short rib, rapini, red pepper and mushroom. The rapini was Joe's favorite part, and the red pepper and mushroom work well. But he tasted more mushroom and rapini than short rib. He'd give it an 8.1 if it wasn't called a short rib pizza, but since the short rib isn't the star, it lands lower.
The verdict
It's a little different from what Joe expected, but he likes it, and he definitely likes the sauce. He gave it a 7.6.
Ranking note: Best Pizza Buffalo ranks every pizzeria by Joe’s score for a standard pizza, so Giacobbi's Cucina Citta is listed at 7.6.
