Geoffano's Pizzeria Review – Alden, NY
score
Geoffano's Pizzeria is on Broadway Avenue in Alden, just outside Buffalo.
The order
Joe ordered a large 17-inch cheese pepperoni for $18.48. The pepperoni is a bigger style and looks hand cut, with a bunch of extras on top. Sauce and cheese go almost to the edge.
First bite
Hot, greasy and cheesy. The crust is just under medium thickness, on the thinner side, with a nice cheese dangle.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: A consistent light golden color underneath, more golden than browned. It could use a little more crisp.
- Sauce: Not bad flavor, but it sits in the background.
- Cheese: Beautiful. Joe says the cheese on this side of the border is fantastic.
- Pepperoni: Nice, greasy and meaty, with good flavor. Joe loves that it's hand cut.
What would make it better
Take the golden color to more of a browning, and let the sauce show through more.
The chicken Cajun pizza
Joe's first ever chicken Cajun pizza was a 17-inch with a garlic butter base, Cajun chicken, mozzarella, green and red peppers, diced tomatoes, Jack and cheddar, and a house spicy ranch drizzle. Joe really liked that the peppers were cooked and not raw, and the back crust gave a nice break from all the flavors. He called it a stoner pizza if he's ever had one. It's a lot going on, and it will fill you up.
The verdict
It's a good solid zaza, especially for under 20 bones. Joe gave the cheese pepperoni an 8.2.
Ranking note: Best Pizza Buffalo ranks every pizzeria by Joe’s score for a standard pizza, so Geoffano's Pizzeria is listed at 8.2.
