Franco's Pizza (Niagara Falls Blvd) Review – Tonawanda, NY
score
At Franco's on Niagara Falls Boulevard, Joe found out they only do round pizzas for gluten-free. A large is a tray. Natalie at the counter was way friendlier than the service he got at another location.
The order
Joe ordered a large cheese pepperoni for $33.40. It's a tray cut into 18 squares, with cup and char pepperoni. Joe went for a corner slice.
First bite
Franco's does good pizza. It's a soft crust with a nice little crisp, which Joe thinks comes from the thin sliced cup and char.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Soft with some crisp. Joe tasted a little sweetness that seemed to come from the crust, not the sauce.
- Sauce: A little lacking out at the edges, so the corner slice missed some.
- Pepperoni: Sliced super thin, adding crisp. Joe is glad it's on top of the cheese.
What would make it better
Spread the sauce all the way to the edges.
The Old World pizza
Joe came back for the large Old World pizza at $37.73. It's a cheese pepperoni on a garlic butter base, with the red sauce drizzled on top and parm sprinkled over it. The crust is soft, but it goes really well with the garlic butter. Some of the pepperoni crisped and some didn't under the sauce, but all had good flavor. Joe liked it better than their straight cheese pepperoni.
The verdict
It's a solid pizza. Joe gave his corner slice an 8.4, and said he wouldn't be surprised if a middle piece scored an 8.7. The Old World pizza hit that 8.7.
Ranking note: Best Pizza Buffalo ranks every pizzeria by Joe’s score for a standard pizza, so Franco's Pizza (Niagara Falls Blvd) is listed at 8.4.
