Chuck's North Street Subway Review – Buffalo, NY
score
Chuck's North Street Subway is on North Street in Buffalo. Joe came because a viewer recommended it on review.pizza.
The order
Joe ordered a large 16-inch cheese pepperoni for $22.83. He wondered if it would be tavern cut like other places in the area, but it came in triangle slices with cup and char pepperoni. A couple of spots were missing pepperoni, no big deal, and Joe went for the slice with extra charred ones.
First bite
The pepperoni bite was money, but even with the dark coloring underneath, it still wasn't crispy.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: A dark cook underneath, on the higher end of dark. The back crust has the crunch and great depth of flavor.
- Sauce: Buffalo standard. A little sweet, nothing crazy.
- Cheese: Money. It holds the slice together.
- Pepperoni: Charred, not burnt. Joe loves tasting those crispy bits, and paired with the outer crust it made a really good bite.
What would make it better
Some of that crunch on the inner part of the pizza, not just the back.
The verdict
Joe wanted to go right down the middle of the eights, but the softness through the middle held it there. He gave it an 8.2.
