Butera's Craft Beer & Craft Pizza Review – Hamburg, NY
score
Butera's Craft Beer & Craft Pizza is on Main Street in Hamburg. It does something a little different from the thick Buffalo pies around it.
The order
Joe ordered a large cheese pepperoni for $17.15. It felt a little light. It was done in a gas fired oven and came with big, wide cup and char pepperoni. The cut needed a little help.
First bite
There was some cornmeal underneath and a light medium browning. It's nice and thin, and Joe liked the flavors and the change of pace.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: Thin and nice. Joe thought it could have been cooked a little longer, but said that's tough in a gas fired oven.
- Sauce: A little aggressive on the herbs.
- Pepperoni: Cup and char, but bigger than usual. A pizza like this probably cooks fast, so they got some cupping but missed a little of the charring.
The verdict
Two gentlemen nearby jumped in to try a slice. One called it good consistency and good flavor, and the man from South Buffalo gave it a solid 8.0. Joe started at a 7.7 and they met in the middle at 7.8. Joe liked the crust and the pepperoni, and only wanted a little less herb and a little more cook.
