The order
Joe ordered a large cheese pepperoni for $20.65. It looked like a 16-incher, with herbs visible, sauce right to the edge and a spot missing a little pepperoni. The cut needed a touch of help.
First bite
It's a little thinner, and it's cooked like a grilled cheese underneath. Joe could definitely taste the herbs on the first bite.
Crust, sauce, cheese and toppings
- Crust: A little thinner than most in Buffalo, with that grilled cheese style bottom. Joe called it an upgrade on the Anchor Bar.
- Sauce: Herby, with a little extra charring at the back.
- Toppings: Joe loves when they go right to the edge, and they do here.
- Pepperoni: Cup and char, which Joe called a beautiful thing. A couple extra would balance it out.
What would make it better
A couple more pepperoni.
The verdict
It's a delicious pizza, and Joe was happy to be back in Buffalo. He gave Artone's an 8.4.
